Residents to help shape improvements to more council play areas

News release 10726, published on 23 Feb 2026
New equipment is planned for four more play areas in the borough, thanks to Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council’s play area refurbishment scheme

People in Tadley, Chineham, Eastrop and Hatch Warren are being asked for their views to help shape new play area makeovers, as part of the borough council’s drive to provide play spaces that are well maintained and inclusive

Play areas at Warblington Close in Tadley, Constantine Way in Hatch Warren, Meadowland in Chineham and Eastrop Community Centre in Eastrop have been identified as those most in need of improvement from the borough council’s 147 play areas

Local residents have until midday on Monday 30 March 2026 to give their views to help guide the final designs

Cabinet Member for Residents’ Services and Housing Cllr Laura James said: “Just as we finish our latest round of play area refurbishments, we are starting work to prepare for the next four

“We know our play areas are important to families and we are working hard to refurbish and maintain them, where possible  In doing this, we ask local people to input and this feedback helps us to provide fun and inclusive new-look play areas to meet the needs of the community”

More information on all four play area refurbishments can be found at https://wwwbasingstokegovuk/play-area-consultations

Those residents who are not online can call 01256 844844 or email playarearefurbishments@basingstokegovuk to request a paper copy of the survey or a large print version to be sent in the post
