We aim to reduce waste and increase recycling in line with national targets. To support this, extra waste capacity (larger or additional bins) is only available to household that recycle fully and can demonstrate a genuine need.
Before applying, residents must use all council recycling services for at least four weeks, including weekly food waste collections and kerbside recycling. Applications may be refused if recyclable materials are found in the general waste bin.
Waste capacity allocation is set out below:

Households can present as many recycling, glass and food waste containers as required if they are being used correctly. Where the additional waste capacity is being misused, we reserve the right to withdraw approval.
Residents can apply online and will receive a decision within 10 working days. Approved applicants must purchase any additional container required.
