Retail assessment

The National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) highlights the importance of Local Planning Authorities supporting economic growth and ensuring the vitality of town centres.

A Retail and Main Town Centre Uses Study was completed in December 2020. The study provides information about shopping and leisure patterns across the borough, the role and function of the borough’s centres, and the capacity of centres to accommodate new retail development in the future.
